All
children and adolescents (youth) involved in any Religious Education
program at First Unitarian Church, including Youth Group (YRUU),
must have a current, updated, registration form filled out and on
file. Each year or whenever a child’s living situation changes, a
new registration form needs to be filled out.
Registration
is required after three visits for children and youth. Mailings and
emails describing programming events along with teacher to parent
communications are sent only to those registered. Permanent name
tags with child’s name and for younger children their parent or
guardian’s name(s) will be provided to registered children.
Parents
you do NOT need to be members of First Unitarian Church to register
for and participate in Nursery, Religious Education and Youth
programming. How You Help our Program
Our
program is growing!! Due to the need to limit class size for
both learning and community building, parents are asked to choose
which class session they will be attending on Sunday mornings at
9:00 am and/or 10:30 am.
Our
Religious Education program is cooperative in nature. Our
success depends upon volunteers. All families participating in
RE should fill out a volunteer form.
We
trust our religious education classrooms will be places where your child feels
valued, secure, and competent.
-
Introduce
your child! Please let us know about his or her particular strengths and
current challenges, so that we can better meet their needs and offer special
opportunities to shine.
-
Introduce
yourself! The teachers would like to get to know the parents of the children
they teach. Please feel welcome to stop in, check out the curriculum,
observe, participate, or offer help.
-
Arrive
on time and come regularly! We realize that families may not come to church
every Sunday, but consistent attendance increases a child’s comfort level
in the program and helps them develop friendships among the children.
-
Contribute!
Make a financial contribution to the annual pledge drive. This provides
funds for the ongoing development and operations of the program.
-
Spend
time at First Unitarian Church! Make a special effort to join in activities
and celebrations. It’s a great way to learn to know new people and have
some family fun at the same time!
-
Volunteer!
The education of our children is the responsibility of all of us. Our
program is a cooperative effort between our volunteer Religious Education
Council, volunteer teachers, parents and the DLRE. It takes many hands to
make this program run smoothly. Taking an active part in the R.E. program
will help you and your children feel that First Unitarian Church is your
religious home.
