Asylum Update

As most of you know, our congregation has been supporting a woman named Briana who has been living with Megan & Lisa Irey since the beginning of April. We are excited to announce that she just moved to her own apartment for the first time – a new stage for her and her life here.

This new phase for her will mean that we need to reimagine what our church supports look like.

We still need monthly, recurring donations to the ISM fund – so hop on the church website and give what you can!! Currently, we are short of meeting our goal of fully supporting her monthly expenses – something that our church has pledged to do by our congregation taking on an asylum seeker.

Click here and select ISM Asylum Support to help us meet our goal.

We are also looking to expand our church support team. We could use more people on our team to run errands, make/manage medical appointments, and other roles that will only be determined as we find our way through this process. In addition, we could also just use some nice people to reach out and support Briana’s social/emotional needs. She loves clothes/shoe shopping, makeup tutorials, bike rides, walks in the park, cooking, badminton, dogs, cats, and horseback riding! We need people who can engage with her in authentic ways as you feel comfortable in this global pandemic. If you don’t speak Spanish, don’t fear! We lived with her for three months and got by using Google translate! All we need are people who are willing to push past the comfort zone of a language barrier and make meaningful, authentic connection to welcome this AWESOME woman into our community!

If you want to join the team or get involved in the support of our compatriot, please contact Morgan Dredge at
