On May 9, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers rounded up and detained 32 people living and working in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, without legal documents. This act was made possible by changes enacted by the current presidential administration that are designed to harm some of the most vulnerable populations living within the borders of our country.
If you want to help those affected and learn how to prevent events like this from happening again, you’re invited to attend a dinner and talk organized by Central Iowa DSA’s Socialist Feminist Working Group to benefit the Community Bond Project of Eastern Iowa.
This event is sponsored by VegLife Des Moines, the Des Moines chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) and First Unitarian Church of Des Moines.
