Care, Compassion, and Transformation in the Midst of Crisis

Dates: February 15, 22, March 1, 8

Time: 12:00-1:30 p.m.

Zoom only

Facilitated by Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner, Co-director, One Earth Conservation

In this four session webinar series we will introduce the theory and practice of Nonviolent Communication and the Five Natural Intelligences to support communication and connection with ourselves, other humans, and other species (such as parrots).

Nonviolent Communication and the Five Natural Intelligences (emotional, social, multispecies, ecological, spiritual) support not just communication, but also relationships with oneself, others, and Earth. By emphasizing the beauty and worth of all individuals, as well as subjective experiences and needs, connection is fostered despite differences and discomfort.  Growing the ability to stay engaged and supportive of others contributes to our well-being as well as to the positive outcomes of our organizations, programs, and campaigns. In this course we seek to see how the next thought, conversation, and action can be transformative, for this is what Earth and her beings need, urgently.

Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner is a wildlife veterinarian, conservationist, Unitarian Universalist Minister, and Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication with over 38 years of working in parrot conservation in the Americas. She will present theory and information and then lead the group in exercises and conversation to expand our ability to love ourselves as our neighbors of all species, and in so doing, bring change and transformation to our societal institutions, practices, and expectations.
