Joe Jencks is an international touring musician, award-winning songwriter, and celebrated vocalist known for his performances of musical beauty, social consciousness and spiritual exploration. A 20-year veteran of the international Folk circuit, Jencks has released 15 CDs in that time. Merging conservatory training with his Irish roots and working-class upbringing, Joe delivers engaged musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove and grit. Raised by wolves, taught by squirrels, friend of the owl- Matthew Wilburn Skinner sings songs of happiness and sorrow. As one-third of the band Tallgrass, he’s done his part to expand the possibilities of the banjo beyond a bluegrass instrument. “I used to just try and play really fast,” he admits. “Which was a challenge, but then I realized you can’t move the soul with that many notes, heh. Just the feet.” He still plays fast sometimes, “I can’t help it, haha, it’s fun,” but it seems to have moved beyond a sport for him somehow. (more…)

A troubadour, a singer/songwriter, a folky, and a storyteller — all are fair labels for this artist, but they do not quite suffice. However, the tattoo of Woody Guthrie worn proudly on his arm is a good starting place from which to grasp Ellis Paul, for it is from the Woody Guthrie tradition that he hails, and Maine as well. Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and James Taylor are also listed among his influences, and their spirits seem to occasionally grace his work. With an acoustic guitar in hand, he weaves intimate, provocative, and romantic tales of lives that were obviously witnessed by a most-talented voyeur. (more…)

In the current turmoil and upheaval in the world, we need to laugh, and we need to hope. Roy Zimmerman’s signature blend of musical comedy with both heart and hilarity has never been more necessary.

In a career spanning more than thirty years, Roy’s songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime, and his videos have garnered tens of millions of views on social media. With his satirical folk quartet, The Foremen, he recorded for Warner/Reprise Records.
