It has come to our attention that there is some confusion out there about what money goes where when you give to the different funds on our giving page. Here’s a breakdown:
- Post Pandemic Party – This is the alternative to the Fabulously Fantastic Food Fair Fundraiser that normally occurs this time of year
- Donation – In preparation for this article, I’ve consolidated the Donation button and the Social Justice button together. Money given here is the same as putting money in the basket in the “good ol’ days.” Money given here is split between our current Faith in Action partner and supporting our own Social Justice activities.
- DACA Renewal Support and ISM Asylum Support – These two buttons are channel donations into the two funds we manage in conjunction with our partnership with the American Friends Service Committee. The DACA Renewal Support Fund helps pay the fees for Dreamers renewing their certification with the Department of Homeland Security and the ISM Asylum Support Fund is used to help pay the costs of several asylum seekers hosted here in the Des Moines area, including by some of our own members.
- Pledge Payment – This button allows you to do exactly what it says, pay your pledge, which is gratefully received.
If you ever have any questions about the options available on our giving page, as these will evolve over time, don’t hesitate to send them to me, Charles Lewis, your friendly neighborhood Director of Finance & Administration, reachable at firstname.lastname@example.org.
