From: the Immigration Justice Committee
The Immigration Justice Committee has decided to support a refugee family through USCRI (United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants). USCRI has been resettling immigrant families since early 1900’s.

The first step in supporting a family is to set up their home with all the household items that will be needed. We will be using the furnishing from the Sanctuary Room at First Unitarian to help with this, but are still in need of many items. The Sign-Up Genius is asking for 2 twin beds, but we may need other items on short notice, depending on the family.

USCRI will probably give us about a week’s notice of when the family will arrive, and only at that time will we know more about the family, such as number and ages of children. For this reason, we are also asking for monetary contributions that can be provided through the giving page on the UCDSM website. Look for Refugee Apartment.
Items can be dropped off in Room 110 at First Unitarian Church. If you are donating a larger item, please contact Sue for support to get it delivered. We are hoping to have the apartment ready to be furnished by January 15. Please contact Sue if you have any questions at immigration@ucdsm.org.
