First Unitarian Humanist Update

** Book Group

The Humanist book group invites everyone to join us on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at noon in the Stonewall conference room.  We will be starting a new book in September, and you can help select the next book from those suggested by our participants over the past year.   Click on BOOKLIST to see the suggested books with links to Amazon to read descriptions or purchase.  If you’d like to participate, click on BOOKVOTE to vote for your choice using ranked choice voting.  Voting will close on July 29th, and the results will be announced in early August, so you will have a month to obtain the book and start reading.  We only discuss a few chapters at a time so you don’t need to read the entire book at once.  After our one-hour discussion, attendees are welcome to join a sub-group over lunch at a local restaurant.  We also use zoom if you wish to join us remotely.

We will finish our current book on July 21st.  We then plan to discuss short articles to be suggested by the group on August 4th and 18th.  We will send out an email with the material to be discussed a few days before each meeting date.  Send a note to info@humanistsocietyofiowa.org to receive the materials.
