Humanist Update

** Book Group **
The Humanist book group is continuing a lively discussion of Isabel Wilkerson’s new book – Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. Pages 99 – 130 (the section following Chapters 9) will be covered in the next session at 11:00 am on Sunday, November 15. There is still time to join!
Send a note to HumanistBookGroup@ucdsm.org if you would like an invite to join the Zoom session, or if you have any questions.
** November Meeting **
The November meeting of the Humanist Society of Iowa will be a Zoom session on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:00 pm. The speaker will be Mark Stringer, Executive Director of the ACLU of Iowa. He will be giving us an update on ACLU activities and what lies ahead, especially with the ongoing struggle to maintain separation of church and state. We will be meeting jointly with the UUS Secular Humanists of Iowa City, and SecSI (Secular Students at Iowa). This will be a great opportunity to network with the Iowa City humanist group and to hear what is on the minds of Iowa City students. Plan to join us for what promises to be a very interesting evening! Contact Al Powers at Humanist@ucdsm.org with any questions.
