This Sunday March 15, join SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) Des Moines Chapter for an “Immigration 101” presentation by Jody Mashek of American Friends Service Committee.
The presentation will cover the basics of the immigration system and specifically ICE detention. Please join us to grow your understanding and capacity. SURJ has been working with Iowans for Immigrant Freedom and American Friends Service Committee over the past few months to start developing a jail visitation program at the Polk County Jail – visiting people being detained by ICE.
If you are curious to learn more about this work, we strongly recommend you attend this meeting to learn the basics of Immigration. We will be presenting more information about the visitation program at our April 5th meeting. We look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
