Programming for Older Adults

At the October Unity Circle meeting, Bob Henderson presented some ideas on potential programming for older adults. These were based on materials he has gathered from the UUA website section for older adults (www.uua.org/older-adults) as well as the Aging and Saging website (www.sage-ing.org).

The hope is to develop offerings that would address topics of interest to people as they face some of the issues of retirement, aging, connecting, and health. These offerings could include book discussions, workshops, videos, and other media. Two possible initial offerings are: “From Age-ing to Sage-ing: A Revolutionary Approach to Growing Older” (Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi) and “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End” (Atul Gawande). For convenience, offerings would be scheduled on weekdays.
