Comfortably Numb

9:15 am and 11 am Celebrant, Heidi Levine There can be a surfeit even of horror. What do we do when we expect a break which never comes? How do we defend against insidious numbness to the problems of the world? Music by the UU Singers.

Waiting on the World to Change

9:15 am and 11 am Celebrant, Meg Notch John Mayer writes “Now we see everything that's going wrong With the world and those who lead it We just feel like we don't have the means To rise above and beat it So we keep waiting (waiting) Waiting on the world to change.” What is our responsibility? When do we stop waiting for the world to change and start making the change happen?

Many Rivers, One Sea: A Water Gathering Service

9:15 am and 11 am Celebrant, Katie Allen We come together here in beloved community to do the work of discovering and living out our values and beliefs. Through flood and drought, wellsprings of abundance and flowing rivers of change, our community is there for us and we are the church in the world. Bring with you today a small amount of water, either from somewhere you have been this summer or collected at home to symbolize the community we are a part of and the sacredness of the work you are called to as a part of First Unitarian (water will be provided for those who forget). What will you pour yourself out for this year? This service will also include the Installation of this year's Board of Trustees!

10 am Celebrant, Max Jensen “Zero” is the most common response given when Americans are asked how many confidants they have. Some of us can remember the good old days when the answer was "one or less". Now it's just "zero". The good news is, it can only get better. Let's beat the odds together.
