Faith Formation Classes
Starting on August 23rd, we will be offering families three choices for Sunday morning programming for their children. These choices will have age recommendations for enrollment but will not be age- or grade -restricted.
Classes will begin downstairs on Sunday mornings with drop-off starting 15 minutes prior to service starting. Parents are always welcome to keep children with them during the service as well.
Parents, please register your child or children using the link below because this allows us to keep you up-to-date on any schedule changes, identify any additional supports children may need, and plan for allergies or other health needs. There is no fee for your child to participate.

UU Friendship Class (Acorn Classroom)
This will be where children learn how to “do church.” They will practice social skills through play and faith routines. They will learn about the needs of their body and mind and how to meet those needs here. They will practice identifying key elements of our church community, such as the church staff, Faith Formation teachers, and board members. And they will learn how to participate in the services by practicing service elements in developmentally appropriate ways. This class will be recommended for ages 4 through 7. This class may be a good fit for children who are shy, kids who need a lot of movement, and kids who need more nurturing relationships with teachers.
UU Explorers Class (Woods Classroom)
This class will be recommended for ages 7 through 9, but, again, it may be a good match for many of our older children as well. This class will start introducing abstract concepts of Unitarian Universalism, such as our six values, through art and constructive play. This class will also work on group art projects to share with the congregation at the end of the year, such as a mural or quilt. Social skills and mindfulness will also be emphasized. This class is perfect for children who are ready to learn about basic beliefs of Unitarian Universalism, can engage in simple conversations about shared topics, enjoy artistic pursuits, and enjoy working on shared projects.
UU Foundations Class (Creek Classroom)
This class is recommended for ages 10 and up or younger children who are interested in exploring the Unitarian Universalist faith through history, stories, and interactive games. The curriculum is intended to prepare the children for the content being explored in our services, with the children having the opportunity to attend the sermon together often. It is the hope that this class will prepare children to identify UU values, beliefs, and actions in the world and compare them to values and beliefs in different faiths. It is a good match for children who can reason abstractly, enjoy discussing spiritual concepts, are interested in other religions, and would like to take on responsibilities in weekly services or a leadership role in our Youth Service.
Our Whole Lives (OWL)
This is a comprehensive sexuality education program for children and youth (K-12), focusing on topics like relationships, consent, body awareness, and personal identity. Designed to promote healthy communication, respect, and emotional well-being, the program offers age-appropriate lessons that help children build a foundation of knowledge for navigating their sexual health. With a values-based, inclusive approach, OWL creates a safe and supportive space for learning and growth.

Young Religious Unitarian Universalists (YRUU)
Youth in 10th-12th grade will have various service opportunities and group meetings available during the year. Click on the “Contact Us” button if you would like more information.
Your Child’s Safety
Our children are a precious part of our congregation. To ensure their safety, we take the following steps:
- Background checks for all teachers and childcare workers are conducted every three years, unless circumstances change
- Two approved adults are assigned to each classroom.
- At least two people shall be assigned to the childcare room. One must be an approved adult. The second person may be either another approved adult or an approved high school youth age 16 or older. When a high school youth serves in this role, the approved adult retains primary responsibility for the supervision, care, and safety of the children.
- Staff and volunteers receive training in child abuse prevention, appropriate boundaries, reporting responsibilities, emergency response procedures and the Child Supervision and Safety Policy.
