Volunteering
We are a vibrant and engaged community, and we rely on a strong network of volunteers to support various events both within our church and throughout the Des Moines Metro Area. Our goal is to build a list of people who are open to being contacted when First Unitarian or affiliated groups need volunteers.
There are many ways to get involved, including:
- Grounds Cleanup
- Building Maintenance
- Hospitality
- Faith Formation
- Congregational Life
- Social Justice Initiatives
- Special events – like our annual Trans Lives Festival and more!
- And so many more!
If you are interested in being part of our volunteer network, contact us!
Caring Ministry Volunteers
We all need a bit of help now and then. Caring Ministry involves a broad group of volunteers who are ready to assist with a variety of needs, such as:
- New baby arrival – meals, mommy/daddy relief, baby quilt
- Rides – to church (temporary basis only) or to the doctor
- Meals – during illness or injury, new baby in the family, or in a time of distress
- Household tasks – lawn care, housecleaning, etc. (temporary basis only)
- Cards – when you might not want visitors, but an encouraging word or something humorous would be appreciated
- Errands/shopping – to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to keep safe those in our community who are most vulnerable
If you would like to become part of the Caring Ministry Team or if you need assistance, please contact us.
