At First Unitarian, we orient our time, talents, and treasure to serve our mission: to love radically, grow ethically and spiritually, and serve justly. In a world with so many challenges and opportunities, how do we do that? Strategic goals help us focus our work and clarify what we center. The Board of Trustees and members of First Unitarian have adopted these goals for the next three years:
Strategic Goal 1
Strengthen support for younger adults and families.
Objectives:
- Develop targeted outreach and recruitment strategies for younger adults and younger families.
- Strengthen Faith Formation and Young Adult programming.
- Create leadership opportunities for and with younger generations.
Strategic Goal 2
Build our presence and partnerships in the community.
Objectives:
- Identify organizations in our community aligned with our mission and values.
- Develop mutually beneficial partnerships focused on service and shared initiatives.
- Increase congregational involvement in community-based events.
- Strengthen communication about community engagement efforts.
Strategic Goal 3
Strengthen the systems supporting our social justice work.
Objectives:
- Promote and increase public witness and action in Des Moines.
- Build member engagement with social justice work
